New service gives users instant access to building inspection reports and historical data

ATLANTA – May 20, 2014 – BuildingReports, the most trusted name in compliance reporting, has launched LiveArchiveTM, a service that provides inspectors, building owners and managers as well as fire officials immediate electronic access to a building’s compliance documentation and other historical data from any smartphone.

Through a unique Quick Response Code, or QR Code, LiveArchive provides secure access to critical reports and historical compliance data on fire, life safety, security and other critical systems.

“Historically, logbooks were compiled of handwritten entries that couldn’t be verified for accuracy and were stored in an electrical box, which in itself poses a fire hazard,” said Jason Kronz, president and chief technology officer for BuildingReports. “While the data is critical, it was difficult to access and confirm that what you were reading was up to date and accurate. LiveArchive solves these problems by giving direct access to the information AHJs, inspectors and building managers need to ensure property and life safety.”

The LiveArchive label can be placed in multiple locations within a facility, to create redundancy if equipment with a QR Code is moved or replaced. By maintaining this critical data in a secure off-site location, the risks of misfiled or inaccessible information are eliminated.

With LiveArchive, authorized users can be onsite at a property and not need anything but their mobile device to access completed reports. Once the QR code has been read, the LiveArchive opens to all available compliance documentation for that facility; the user simply selects the desired report for immediate viewing or sharing.

BuildingReports today announced the ExtinguisherScan® inspection application has been renamed SafetyScan®. While the application continues to provide for NFPA 10 inspections of Fire Extinguishers, feedback from the BuildingReports Membership Network indicated a name change would assist facilities comprehend the expanded capabilities of the solution.

“When we released ExtinguisherScan in 2001 most of the devices within the application were primarily based around Fire Extinguishers and their peripheral equipment” explained Jason Kronz, President and Chief Technology Officer. “12 years later the application has expanded greatly to include more safety devices such as Defibrillators, Breathing Apparatus, First Aid equipment, Exit and Emergency Lights, Fire Doors, etc. and the name of the application needed to reflect it’s current role in the marketplace”.

SafetyScan® is part of the ScanSeries™ suite of inspection applications and is immediately available for Palm OS and Windows Mobile scanning PDA’s from the download section of the BuildingReports website. Additionally all ScanSeries™ applications including SafetyScan® will be available for specific Apple iOS devices in the coming weeks with users able to download directly from the App Store. ATLANTA, Nov. 19, 2013— BuildingReports, the most trusted name in compliance reporting, has surpassed 1.6 million safety inspections through its member network of more than 600 Fire, Life Safety and Security companies – the industry’s largest.

With more than a decade of safety inspection reporting experience and more than 120 million inspected devices to date, no other company has the breadth of industry expertise as BuildingReports. BuildingReports’ technology replaces manual safety inspections through barcode scanning technology and online reports. This provides more accurate, secure and verifiable inspection results that are fully documented and in compliance with regulatory standards.

“A year and a half after BuildingReports first surpassed one million inspections, we are more than halfway to the next million,” said Jason Kronz, President and CTO of BuildingReports. “We attribute this accelerated growth to our large member network of qualified inspection professionals as we raise the industry bar for inspection reporting.”

BuildingReports makes safety inspection reporting results instantly retrievable from a secure online database 24/7 from anywhere. Building owners and safety officials no longer have to wait for paper reports, allowing them to address any potential issues faster.

“We are working on some new initiatives that we believe will positively impact the compliance reporting industry as a whole,” said Kronz. “Additionally, we have rebranded our website to better represent our solutions, member network and areas of expertise and the new layout streamlines navigation based on visitors’ needs and roles.”
